I am a big fan of going to the Track and betting on horses. Something about the simplicity of a flat out race, winner takes all which lures me to bet hard before the gates open then scream my heart out while I await the impending misery of defeat or elation of winning. With the Olympics currently in progress I felt obligated to bet on the ultimate race that consist of human ponies – 100 meter track race!
For this race I decided to try a book that is very well known and publicly traded in UK stock exchange ladbrokes.com. I have visited a ladrokes betting shop while in UK to bet on the Euro cup when Greece decided to upset the field and win the Euro. This resulted in broke me sleeping in regents park for a night since all my money went on Portugal – Bastards. Ladbrokes along with the betting shops have a very UK feel to the site which provides a great deal of bonuses, lines, casino games along with other bells and whistles to choose from. I am not here for fluff I’m here for a straight up bet – A one off they say. After registering an account with ease I decide that this one will be the big dirty, the mother of all bets, the bet that brings kings to their knees and oceans to boil. I decide to deposit $1000 into the account (which is all my money) with my credit card. As my heart races with the anticipation of what might transpire in the coming moments, I see the transaction processing then my worst nightmare has bestowed me – transaction declined. I try three more times and it appears my credit card is not working with this processor. After brushing off the initial defeat I find a bit of money in my neteller account and bam – $80 accepted!
Now that the money is in place I take a trip to the Olympic lines and rather easily find my race. Now that my initial dream of throwing down the big dirty bet has been crushed I will need to pick the dark horse to make this experience more enjoyable. Since I am lazy and do not wish to study whom might win this race I decide to use my horse racing never fail tactic in picking a winner – The one with the best name will win. Upon perusing the list of names the obvious stands – Usain “lightning” Bolt – too easy. I look deeper. Powell, okay but nope. Justin Gatlin “gun” – pretty good but not exactly what I am looking for. I decide to put my money on the Gay – Tyson Gay. Perhaps he has some built up rage from ignorant schoolyard bullies teasing him for his festive sur name. I take the Gay at 11 to 1 and confirm – $880 Payout!
My experience with Ladrokes is like walking into a walmart shopping center – you hate everything about the corporate faceless place but it undoubtedly provides top-notch matches at great odds. If you are the occasional punter looking for a non-VIP treatment environment by all means head on over and register an account today!
